At KUMO we create one-of-a-kind and limited edition furniture and objects. We strive for simplicity in design, clarity of form and a sensitivity to material. Our work is influenced by the Japanese concepts of wabi sabi and shibui, and the philosophies of Yanagi Soetsu, Kawai Kanjiro, and others in the Japanese mingei movement. Coupled with those influences is a love of modern design and Japanese and Scandinavian architecture, woodworking, ceramics and textiles.

Our work is offered on a commission basis. On occasion we have items for sale in our gallery or listed in our Work section under Limited Edition. View our Work also for current designs and previous commissioned pieces. As all pieces are made on a to-order basis, lead times will be determined by our production schedule. Custom orders are welcome. Please visit our Process page to get a description of the design, ordering and production process. If you would like to see our work in person, please visit us at our gallery space in Hudson, New York or check our News page for our show schedule.
